Bike Tour 


 

 

 

All what you need is to take your bike and perch at the western tip of North Africa, it’s a breeze to reach with a ferry or low-cost flight. As you know the tourist industry now is well developed so cyclists will find an extensive network of campgrounds. Moreover, it’s no problem to wild camp in rural areas, tucked away in a dip between mountains, under a palm tree or beside nomads in the desert scenery of the south.

We organize everything that you need for your cycling tour in 8 days; Accommodation, food-drinks and transport. You will be surprised how the Berber tradition of hospitality reigns towards travelers in Morocco as you might be invited into a family home to share a meal or spend the night.

On the first day, you will be picked up from your arrival point by car to Midelt. On the second day, you are going to start your bike tour through different villages such as Agoudim , Agoudal, Amellago… until the desert town MERZOUGA where you will celebrate the 444 km Cycling in 7 days.

On the eighth day, after the breakfast, is the transfers back to the airport are arranged for you. Crossing first the Tafilalet Valley and parallel to the palm grove of the Ziz, then you will cross the High Atlas, the Upper Moulouya plateau and the Middle Atlas mountain range.

 

SCHEDULE

DAY 01: TRANSFERT  & Preparation

You will be picked up by our stuff from your  arrival point ( FES,MARRAKECH,CASABLANCA,TANGERS)To MIDELT.

DAY 02 : Mdelt to Agoudim  95 klm

Departure at 08.00, transfer by car to the point where the mountain bike begins at the access to the Jaffar track, the track begins with a spectacular ascent to Jaffar port (altitude 2250m), during the first section you will be surrounded by forests Holm oaks, and juniper. Once past the mountain pass you have a dizzying descent that takes you to the Jaffar circus and then continues with a gentle ascent through the cedar forest of Mitkhane. The last sections of the route of the day run through cultivated valleys and surrounded by thin forests of oaks, and juniper. Equipment en route. Arrival to Agoudim (2000m.) at the afternoon.

DAY 03: Agoudim to Agoudal  94 klm

Departure from Agoudim (2000m.) After breakfast. Begin the stage by a newly paved track in light and continuous ascent through the village of Boutserfine to the mountain port of Anemzi, located 14 km. Of your starting point and to 2370m. Where the track returns unpaved and you will have to cross several times the river (whenever the track is practicable, if you do not have to go by the asphalt). You will pass through the village of Anefgou (1940m) and then again begin the ascent towards the villages of Tirrhist (or Tireghiste) and Tighadouine and towards the mountain port of Tizi N ‘Inouzane, almost 2650m., Continuously climbing with some Breaks Descent of the port, it goes by the valley of the Ait Brahim and goes back the valley of the Assif Melloul in the direction of Agoudal, victualling in the  route. (All this stage is in the process of being asphalted, therefore you may have almost no clue)

DAY 04: Agoudal to Amellago 98 klm

Departure from Agoudal after breakfast to face a long stage but with much descent and flat. As soon as you leave Agoudal you take the asphalted road  direction of the Todra gorge, 20 kilometers of gentle but prolonged ascent lead from Agoudal, located at 2345m. Until the Tizi Tiherhouzine of almost 2700m. From this point, the 80 km of The rest are descending or rolling, initially a strong descent takes you to the villages of Ait Daoud or Azzi (2070m.) And Toumliline, located at the head of the Todra valley, from this point you have 72km Of soft but prolonged descent through the Todra valley passing by Ait Lahcen and Timoula to Ait Hani, where you leave the upper Todra valley to head east through the villages of Asineg Tiidrine and Assoul until entering the valley of the Rheris that you will travel for 20 km. From Tirga to Amellagou, passing through his throat and through the beautiful villages of the valley, Ait Sidi Mhamed, Taourirt, Amouguer, Oudidi, Imider, Ait Ayoub, Imellouan and Amellagou (1325m).

DAY 05: Amellago to Erfoud 87 klm by bike 50 klm by car

Leaving Amellagou (1325m.) After breakfast in the direction of Ksar Touroug, after leaving the village, the route separates from the river Rheris to enter the arid mountain and cross the only level of the day of 1430m, after 12 km. By the mountain you will return to the valley of the Rheris passing by the CLAY architectural villages of Tahemdounte, Touker, Ksar Mouy … Until arriving at the city of Goulmima (1020m.) And continue descending the valley of the Rheris through its palm tree and From the arid plains to the R702 road between the villages of Melaaby Ksar Touroug, where you will leave the bikes to ride  the 4×4 vehicle to continue to the city of Erfoud. Lunch, dinner and hotel accommodation in Erfoud.

DAY 06: Erfoud to  Merzouga  60 klm

Departure from Erfoud after breakfast in the direction of Rissani, desert gate, cradle of the Alaouit dynasty, city of ksour and palm groves, you will circulate through the ksour of clay architecture of the valley of the Tafilalet inside the oasis, in the shade Of the palm trees and surrounded by fields of irrigation and ditches through which flows the water of the river Ziz and through the arid plains of alluviums. Once crossed Rissani you will continue through the gray, flat and dusty hamada towards Erg Chebbi, the concentration of dunes highest of Morocco.

DAY 07: MERZOUGA 60 klm

After breakfast you will begin a hard and special day in which you will make the loop to the dunes, circling the erg, biking around  the hamada, plain of black stone in which it is not rare to see mirages, you will pass through part of a stage of the old Paris Dakar and along your way you will find nomadic families living in TENTS in the hamada accompanied by their flocks. In the afternoon return to the hotel where you can wander and wander the dunes or take a dip in the pool.

DAY 08: Merzouga to FES 460 klm

After breakfast you will start the return trip by car to FEZ, crossing first the Tafilalet Valley and parallel to the palm grove of the Ziz, then you will cross the High Atlas, the Upper Moulouya plateau and the Middle Atlas mountain range to finally reach the imperial city Of FES.
