Marrakech to Merzouga 5 Days Tour
DAY One : Marrakech – Ait Ben Hadou – Ouarzazate
After picking you up at the airport we will head towards Ouarzazate via one the highest mountain passes of the Atlas, Tizi-n-Tischka (2260 meters). We will rest and drink Morocc
an Tea also known as Bereber Whisky. From there we will go towards Telouet Kasbah, then to the famous Casbah ait ben Haddo and the cinema studios where we will have dinner: To end the day we will arrive to Oaurzazate and spend the night at the hotel.
DAY Two : Ouarzazate – Rose Valley – Dades Gorges
We will visit the Taourirt Kasbah, the palm grove of Skoura and the Rose valley. We will follow a track, along the journey you will see berber farmers. They use an ancient style of hanging plants beside the mountains. We will cross the gorges, with it’s vast calmness, it’s a unique opportunity to observe how Berbers nomads live. We will spend the night in a five star hotel, located in the heart of the gorge.
DAY Three : Dades Gorges – Todra’s Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, we will walk a bit around the beautiful cliffs. Our next destination will be Merzouga and we will cross many different gorges, like Todra where you’ll be able to taste crystal clear water from the river. We will arrive to the only genuine “Erg” of the Sahara, it’s an extension of land that gives form to the dunes, this one is 250 meters tall. We will spend the night in a hostel.
DAY Four : Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga
90 kms of journey After breakfast you’ll start the great walk around the dunes. We will visit both oasis in Merzouga, the nomad deposit of the desert routes. We will visit the village of Khamlia (black’s village). Also the Mifiss mines, the desertic plates, where we will meet the bereber nomads of the desert. Afterwards the Tissardmine oasis. Finally, we will come back to the hostel. At around 3 o’clock we will depart with the camels in order to see the sunset in the dunes. We will spend the night in a wild oasis located 2 hours of walk into the desert. Night under a Bereber tent.
DAY Five : Merzouga
It’s worth to wake up early and see the sunrise on the dunes. We will exit the desert with the camels and breakfast in the hotel. We will leave behind the desert and follow our route enjoying the South of Morocco. We will visit the huge palm groves, oasis and ancient cities built in adobe (Kasbahs). You will be speechless! Our next destination will be the center of the country, there we will find Azrou, in the middle of the Atlas there is a berber village around some impressive cedar forests with monkeys and lakes. We will arrive to Fez at 6 o’clock approximately.
